DroneSense has entered into a partnership with MatrixSpace to enhance the safety and performance of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations for Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs. The collaboration integrates MatrixSpace Radar’s real-time object detection and advanced airspace awareness into DroneSense Remote (DSR), providing operators with superior situational control.

MatrixSpace Radar offers AI-powered awareness in a wide range of conditions, including low light and reduced visibility. Its AiEdge software enables real-time classification of objects, while centralized sensor fusion allows agencies to scale DFR operations with greater efficiency and confidence.

According to DroneSense, this partnership represents a critical step toward unlocking BVLOS capabilities for public safety agencies. By integrating radar-based awareness directly into the DroneSense OpsHub interface, mission execution and operational safety are both significantly improved.

The collaboration has already led to key milestones. The Palm Springs Police Department now operates the largest DFR coverage area in the United States—37 square miles—with radar replacing human observers. Meanwhile, the Campbell Police Department became the first law enforcement agency in California to secure FAA approval for single-operator BVLOS missions under a Part 91.113(b) waiver, enabling safer operations during nighttime and adverse weather conditions.
