One Year in the U.S.: Robin Radar’s Journey

One year ago, Robin Radar Systems officially planted a flag on U.S. soil. By opening our offices in Ashburn, Virginia, we strengthened a partnership with the United States that has been years in the making. Our technology has long been tested and deployed alongside U.S. defense, aviation, and aerospace leaders. Collaborations with Boeing and CUAS integrators like Dedrone by Axon, Amentum, and AirMatrix highlight the depth of these ties.

We anticipated a pivotal year—and it surpassed expectations. Since August 2024, our U.S. team has doubled across sales, tech, and support. Operational tempo has quadrupled, with more testing, integrations, and demonstrations. Today, Robin systems actively protect some of America’s most critical infrastructure.

A Changing Threat Landscape

The counter-UAS space has transformed rapidly. Once seen as fringe, drones are now mainstream—shaping legislation, news coverage, and security priorities. President Trump’s executive orders have pushed innovation in areas like drones as first responders and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). Yet, these same policies underline the need for robust defenses.

Conflicts abroad—from Ukraine to the Middle East—demonstrate how inexpensive drones can threaten assets worth millions. U.S. leaders have warned that homeland security risks are rising faster than current defenses. The challenge is clear: embrace drone-enabled innovation while safeguarding the skies.

From Baltimore to New York

In just a year, Robin Radar has supported several high-impact deployments across the U.S.:

  • Baltimore – After the Key Bridge collision, IRIS helped enforce a “no drone zone” during recovery operations.
  • DHS R&D – Our radar now supports research for border security and large-scale public events.
  • Critical Infrastructure – Robin was chosen as part of integrated defense systems protecting vital sites.
  • New York – A surge of drone sightings led to national coverage, with NBC declaring: “Gotham has Batman, but New York wants Robin.” Our technology gained bipartisan support and was featured across major outlets from CNN to USA Today.

IRIS: Built for Tomorrow

At the core is IRIS, our flagship 3D counter-UAS radar. Compact and deployable in 15 minutes, IRIS weighs just 64 lbs yet delivers powerful coverage:

  • 360° awareness with a 3-mile range, equating to 30 square miles of protection.
  • Vehicle-mounted operation at speeds up to 62 mph.
  • Continuous AI-driven upgrades, ensuring smarter detection year after year.

Designed for seamless integration, IRIS is the first line of defense in layered CUAS systems.

Collaboration is Key

Countering drone threats is a team effort. No single sensor or system can do it alone. That’s why Robin Radar continues to collaborate with integrators like Dyzne, Black River, and AV Blue Halo, ensuring our technologies evolve as threats advance.

Kristian Brost, Robin’s U.S. General Manager, summed it up: “We’ve grown from a handful to a capable team. It’s been an incredible first year, and we’re proud to work alongside our partners to protect U.S. airspace. The journey is just beginning.”
