EOS Defense Systems and ROKETSAN have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop and promote directed-energy counter-UAS (C-UAS) systems. The collaboration aims to accelerate the fielding of high-power microwave and other directed-energy technologies capable of disabling hostile drones at scale, addressing growing interest in non-kinetic approaches to unmanned aerial threats.
Under the agreement, the two companies will combine their engineering expertise, production resources and market access to advance a new generation of counter-drone solutions that leverage directed energy rather than traditional projectile-based methods. Directed-energy systems use concentrated electromagnetic energy to interfere with or damage electronics onboard unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), offering advantages such as near-instant engagement, low per-shot cost and reduced physical debris in sensitive environments.
The partnership will initially focus on integrating EOS’s experience with advanced electronic warfare and sensor technologies with ROKETSAN’s capabilities in defence manufacturing and systems integration. By bringing these competencies together, the companies aim to create scalable, modular directed-energy C-UAS architectures that can be deployed for military, critical infrastructure and border security applications.
Directed-energy systems are increasingly seen as a vital component of layered airspace protection. As small drones proliferate, traditional counter-UAS methods such as kinetic interceptors or jamming systems can face limitations in range, speed or regulatory acceptability in populated areas. Directed-energy approaches offer rapid response times and the potential for repeated engagements without the logistics burden associated with physical interceptors.
EOS and ROKETSAN plan to pursue joint marketing and demonstration activities to showcase the performance and reliability of their co-developed directed-energy systems to international defence customers. These efforts aim to highlight how such technologies can integrate into broader C-UAS architectures, complementing existing radar, optical and electronic warfare sensors to provide comprehensive threat identification and defeat options.
The collaboration reflects a broader trend in defence procurement toward advanced, non-kinetic counter-drone solutions. Governments and military organisations worldwide are increasing investments in technologies that can operate in complex electromagnetic environments and address sophisticated UAV threats without escalating conflict or causing collateral damage.
By pooling their technological strengths and market reach, EOS and ROKETSAN seek to position themselves as leaders in the next wave of counter-UAS innovations, where directed energy plays a central role in future airspace defence strategies.
