Wibu-Systems, a Germany-based specialist in software protection, licensing and cybersecurity, has officially inaugurated WIBU-SYSTEMS India Pvt. Ltd., marking a new phase in its long-term commitment to the Indian market. The launch event was held in Bangalore on October 15, 2026, in collaboration with VDMA India.
The new subsidiary, based in Hyderabad, aims to strengthen the company’s engagement with Indian software vendors, intelligent device manufacturers, industrial enterprises and technology partners. It will provide customers with more direct access to Wibu-Systems’ expertise in software intellectual property protection and licensing, supported by the company’s development and product teams in Germany.
Strengthening India-Germany Technology Collaboration
India’s expanding software, engineering and industrial technology ecosystem presents opportunities for collaboration between Indian and German companies. Wibu-Systems sees its local presence as a way to support Indian innovators developing software-driven products and building their own intellectual property.
Oliver Winzenried, co-founder and CEO of Wibu-Systems AG, said the investment represents more than establishing another office. The company aims to build long-term cooperation with Indian businesses while helping innovators protect their creations and develop scalable business models.
The subsidiary will focus on closer customer engagement, understanding local market requirements and connecting Indian companies with the technology, research and expertise available at Wibu-Systems’ German headquarters.
CodeMeter Supports Software Protection and Licensing
At the centre of Wibu-Systems’ offering is CodeMeter, a technology platform that combines software protection with flexible licensing and entitlement management. It is designed to protect software and firmware against unauthorised copying, manipulation and reverse engineering.
The platform supports different commercial models, including perpetual licences, subscriptions, feature-based access and usage-based pricing. These options allow manufacturers and software developers to tailor product functionality and licensing arrangements to different customers, markets and distribution channels.
CodeMeter also includes tools for licence management and reporting. The CodeMeter License Portal enables customers and partners to access and manage licences through self-service processes, while licence reporting provides information about how software products and features are being used.
For companies beginning their licensing journey, Wibu-Systems offers CodeMeter Licensing-as-a-Service (CmLaaS), which provides ready-to-use infrastructure and predefined workflows. This can help businesses introduce licensing without first developing an entire licensing backend.
Supporting Software-Driven Industries
As software becomes an increasingly important part of industrial products, protecting intellectual property and managing access to product functionality are becoming significant business considerations. Wibu-Systems’ solutions are intended to support software vendors, intelligent device manufacturers and industrial enterprises throughout the software business lifecycle.
The company’s Indian subsidiary is led by Dr. Ashok-Kumar Chandra-Sekaran, Managing Director of WIBU-SYSTEMS India Pvt. Ltd. The local team will work with customers and partners to understand their requirements and support the development, deployment and commercialisation of software-enabled offerings.
The official launch event included discussions on software protection and licensing, along with a live demonstration of CodeMeter technology.
Through its Indian subsidiary, Wibu-Systems aims to establish a sustained local presence, strengthen connections between its German technology base and Indian businesses, and support companies seeking to protect intellectual property and build scalable digital business models.
